Holy smokes what a weekend...actually what a crazy couple of weeks! Packing all of our stuff in Mason City, Christmas, leaving Mason City, trip to Blackfoot, Boise, family time, getting sick, then spontaneously going back to Mason City for an hour just to turn back and head back to Laramie...time for a deep breath!
So much to catch up on but for now to catch up from this past crazy weekend.
So, a sickness was making its way through the family over the break and Andrew, Anna and Kiera got sick in Laramie right before they were supposed to drive back to Mason City. Andrew woke up the day they were going to leave and it was very clear he couldn't drive and Anna is still healing from a fractured elbow and needed to be able to take care of the kids...SOOO we improvised and Mom Fox drove her car with Andrew, Jacob and Kayleen and I drove Anna and Andrews car with Anna, Jackson and Kiera.
We left around 1 pm on Saturday afternoon and drove for about 6 hours to Grand Island, Nebraska where we stopped for the night. Even though everyone was sick it was still a fun time and I am so grateful (and know I'm spoiled) that I got a little extra time with Anna and her family.
Anna and Andrew were up most of the night trying to keep Kiera's fever down (sick babies are so sad, it was horrible watching poor sweet little Kiera so sick). Because of the long night, we slept in (none of the kids even woke up till around 9) on Sunday morning and continued on to Mason City around 11 am. We had to stop a bit more frequently for bathroom breaks, make sure Kiera's temperature wasn't too high and give medicine to all the sickies. It was a busy drive but so much fun. Lots of laughs were shared and it was so fun to have some extra sister time with Anna.
We got into Mason City around 5:30 pm on Sunday evening. Mom rested for a bit, we ate a delicious dinner (Homemade chicken noodle soup, THANK YOU EMILY!) said our goodbyes :( :( :( and got back on the road. There was supposed to be bad weather in Wyoming Monday evening so we wanted to start our drive and get as far west as we could Sunday night so we wouldn't have to travel in the dark/icy roads Monday.
It was as hard as I thought it would be saying goodbye to Anna, Andrew and the kids. I miss them all so much already. :( It was so great being in Iowa with them and it was so hard leaving them after being with them all day everyday for the past 8 months.
**Special moments I want to remember about saying goodbye:
-I was holding Kiera and was talking to her and asked her, "Are you going to forget how much you like me?" then she wrapped her arms around my neck and gave me the sweetest little hug! Oh my heart. Definitely a moment I will never forget.
-Jackson running over saying, "Bye Aunt Holly!"
-Kayleen waving frantically from the toy room window as we were driving away.
Love you sweet AFOX family. Miss you guys already!
Mom Fox drove and let me sleep. I didn't realize how tired I was until I finally sat back and closed my eyes. Suddenly I woke up and we were already in Omaha. We stopped there for the night. We left Omaha around 10 am the next morning and pulled into Laramie right around 5:30 tonight. It feels great to be out of the car! It was so fun getting to do a quick road trip with Mom Fox. She's so fun to travel with and we always have a great time together. I came home to a very sick husband (this dang sickness just keeps getting passed!) and Mom Fox started feeling sick tonight too. Hopefully they are the last to get this stinking miserable cold/sore throat/headache/fever. It is miserable! :(
I'm so grateful for family and for the safety and protection we received as we traveled so much this weekend. It was a bittersweet weekend saying goodbye to Anna, Andrew and the kids and the excitement of starting this new chapter in Laramie. What a crazy way to start off 2017!
Now to catch up on the rest of Christmas Break. It was a great one! But that's definitely for another day... I'm ready for a long night of sleep. :)

This was our "holy smokes its so cold outside but we're still going to stop and take a picture" selfie at the hotel we stopped at the first night...haha
Mom Lyman sent them home with canned things so we had to bring them into the hotel so they wouldn't freeze and break in the car. It was hilarious walking the boxes up to the room.
Some more "selfie times"

One last "selfie time" :) (ignore my nasty hair, tired eyes and ugly no makeup face).
Mom wanted to join in. :)
If you look closely you can kind of see them waving in the window. :)
