Good Day

Today was a good day.

While being in Iowa I've been able to step outside my comfort zone and go out with the sister missionaries quite a few times. When we first got here and they asked me to go I was TERRIFIED. After going once though and seeing how its not really scary, I've learned to love it and I love the sisters! It has been fun to get to know each set of sister missionaries and I have gained new friends because of it. :) This morning I was able to go out with them for a lesson and even though the lesson ended up falling through it was still super fun to get to visit with them for a few minutes afterwards. They are both so sweet. Sister Bracken (on the right) has been in Mason City for 4 transfers and this is Sister Clay's second transfer here. They are dear friends and I love getting to hang out with them!

I took the picture below and sent it to their moms. :)

Anna and I both had boots and scarves on today so I made her go outside with me and take some pictures with the pretty leaves behind us. I'm lucky my sister loves me even though I like to take wayyyy to many pictures.

Sweet moment from today: Tonight Kevin and I went to tithing settlement at the church. Its always refreshing getting to talk with the Bishop and hear his testimony of tithing and be reminded of how important it is and how much it blesses our lives. Kevin reminded me of an experience we had where we saw the blessings of tithing. We had been married for just about a year. We were both going to school, I was working about 15 hours a week and Kevin was doing odds and ends working at a hotel in town. We made our finances work for our circumstances and made sure that we paid our tithing but knew that we would not be able to support ourselves without school aid during our off track. We prayed to know what we needed to do and continued to pay our tithing. One random day we got a text from a friend in our ward that they were leaving Rexburg and asked if we wanted to apply for the managing position they currently held. Long story short we ended up getting the job (and spent three years working for that company.) It was definitely an answer to our prayers and we believe a blessing from paying our tithing. It was sweet to hear Kevin tell this story to the bishop. It helped remind me of how blessed we have been throughout our marriage. I'm grateful that we have established the habit of paying tithing and I know that we will continue to be blessed by obeying that law.

Another sweet moment today: I was called to be the young women's secretary so I now get to attend mutual each Wednesday. Tonight we watched the "face to face" with Studio C that the church put on. I think I enjoyed it so much because Kevin and I have watched Studio C for years but it had very uplifting messages. One of my favorite parts was when a few of the cast each bore their testimony about the Atonement. It was sweet to hear them tell of how we each can apply the atonement throughout different aspects of our lives. Another favorite part was when one of the cast members (Whitney) talked about when she had her baby and the love she felt for him. Even though he had done nothing yet or achieved anything she had this insane love for him immediately. She compared this to our Heavenly Fathers love for us. We don't have to achieve anything or impress Him to feel his love or know that He loves us. It was a sweet reminder.

All in all it was a really great day! I'm grateful for the little reminders I received today of how I can be doing better, how blessed I've been throughout my life and how I can continue to grow while we are staying here in Iowa.

Third Time's the Charm..Maybe...

Last week as I sat down to go through some emails I remembered this old blog and got sucked into reading through past posts. I smiled, cried and laughed as I read through my memories over the last 4 years. :) It was crazy to read through and think about how much has changed over the years and how much Kevin and I have experienced together in the 6 years we've been married. My last post was from March of last year after a visit to Iowa. I could kick myself for not keeping up with this blog because last year was packed full of some of the greatest and hardest experiences of my life. Highlights from over the past 18 months: -We had a graduation party in Idaho for Kevin April 2017 and he officially graduated the following July! It felt so good for him to finally be done. He worked SO HARD and overcame some major obstacles and set backs.  -After Kevin walked in April we did a big trip to Utah and Iowa with Shawnii after watching her graduate with her Masters in Communication Disor...

Mid-Week Happenings/Ramblings

This week has gone by sooo slow. I woke up this morning thinking it was Thursday. Rude. Anyways...Here's some random happenings/ramblings from the past week or so... Kevin is anti anything Christmas before Thanksgiving...I'm the complete opposite. We've compromised. I can listen to Christmas music but cant hang any decorations (my pinecone and snowflake garlands don't count) until the Monday before Thanksgiving. I can live with those stipulations.  We made a goal with our friend G to not eat out at all this week (we may or may not have an addiction to midnight runs to McDonalds). We've survived so far.  Last night we finally watched the movie, "The Fault in Our Stars". Holy hannah. Ugly face cry the whole time people. It was so sad but so worth it, minus the random f-bomb.  I attempted to make homemade french fries for dinner this week...oh deary...Lets just say I wont be using that particular recipe again...or attempting to make fries again a...

Sum of September

My goodness its already October! September was a fabulous, crazy, busy, wonderful month. First up a visit to Idaho... A ll my siblings surprised my parents the second weekend of Sept as an early birthday present for my mom's 60th birthday! We were missing Kevin and Arianna's husband and kids but the rest of us were able to go. My parents were so shocked and my mom cried and cried she was so happy to see us all. It was the best present we've ever given her. :)  It was a laid back weekend just spending time together. We went to a Gentri concert Saturday night,  church Sunday, my mom loves having people to sit with so we made sure to visit on a weekend so we could all sit with her, Danny and Melissa's family left Sunday after dinner, Monday we had a little day of shopping and relaxing at home, and then Tuesday Shawnii, Arianna and I all headed home.  GETTING TO DRIVE LARRY HOME FROM CHURCH!!!  The day after I got back from Idaho I st...
