Adlee Louise Hansen

On Halloween our new little niece Adlee Louise Hansen was born and I got to be in the room for her birth! It was by far one of the coolest experiences I've ever had.

Preface to Adlee's birth: I talked to Arianna and Kevin a few weeks ago about how I wanted to teasingly ask Katherine and Justin if I could be in the room when Adlee was born. (Way before we we were planning to be in Wyoming). Then, when Kevin and I decided to drive over and the time came for Mama Fox and I to head over to Riverton, I told Mom about how I wanted to ask them (because I thought it would be flippin AWESOME, I know I'm weird). Mom secretly talked to them and arranged for me to be able to be there. :) I came home from dropping the girls off at school Monday (Halloween) morning and Mom Fox said, "They want you at the hospital! I'll stay with the boys!" I couldn't stop smiling (or shaking, I was SO excited) the entire drive to the hospital.

It took a while for Katherine to progress. During that time we chatted, ate candy (well Justin and I did, Katherine couldn't eat anything) and Katherine rested. I got to watch them give her an epidural. That was intense (holy insane needles, that was the only part that bothered me throughout the whole day). After the epidural she had a low blood pressure scare. Once they got her blood pressure figured out she was able to rest for a little bit while her labor continued to progress. After she had rested a while they checked her and she still hadn't progressed much. Justin and I decided to run out to get some food because we hadn't eaten all day. After being gone about 25 minutes Katherine texted Justin that they had checked her and she was dilated to a six. In all her other labors once she was a six she progressed fast so we got our food and rushed back to the hospital. Once we got there things progressed VERY quickly. Katherine was beginning to feel pressure so they checked her and baby Adlee was starting to come! They called the Doctor (who was 30 minutes away from the hospital) and told her to hurry because the baby was coming quick! We were all laughing and having a great time while we waited for the doctor to come (not at all how I pictured a labor to be). Haha :). The nurses kept teasing Katherine that if she kept laughing she was going to laugh the baby right out (the baby was SO close). It was crazy each time they checked her being able to see the babies head (TMI probably but it was awesome to see). Finally the doctor made it and suited up to catch the baby. After a contraction started they told Katherine to push and baby Adlee came! It was incredible to see what the woman's body can do and so sweet to see a fresh new baby enter the world. Katherine and Justin asked me earlier in the day if I wanted to cut the cord and of course I said yes (HECK YEAH!). It was so cool to be able to do that. They also let me have the chance to hold Adlee right after Katherine did (soooo special). I'm so grateful they let me be apart of such a sweet day for them.

I snapped pictures the whole time of that sweet new baby and soaked in every tender moment and feeling I had in that hospital room. I picked a few pictures from the day to post below...

This was just a few minutes before she started pushing! I told her we HAD to take a selfie. Haha. She looked so calm and beautiful through the whole thing! Amazing little Mama! :)

I'm so grateful Katherine and Justin gave me the chance to be there during the birth. I can't explain how sweet and special it was to me to be able to be there. I'm so grateful that they gave me the chance to experience that wonderful moment of watching a new baby enter the world and see that glow of a beautiful mother and father welcoming their new little baby into their family. I love them so much and loved getting to be a part of such an exiting day!

Welcome to the world Adlee Louise!

Third Time's the Charm..Maybe...

Last week as I sat down to go through some emails I remembered this old blog and got sucked into reading through past posts. I smiled, cried and laughed as I read through my memories over the last 4 years. :) It was crazy to read through and think about how much has changed over the years and how much Kevin and I have experienced together in the 6 years we've been married. My last post was from March of last year after a visit to Iowa. I could kick myself for not keeping up with this blog because last year was packed full of some of the greatest and hardest experiences of my life. Highlights from over the past 18 months: -We had a graduation party in Idaho for Kevin April 2017 and he officially graduated the following July! It felt so good for him to finally be done. He worked SO HARD and overcame some major obstacles and set backs.  -After Kevin walked in April we did a big trip to Utah and Iowa with Shawnii after watching her graduate with her Masters in Communication Disor...

Mid-Week Happenings/Ramblings

This week has gone by sooo slow. I woke up this morning thinking it was Thursday. Rude. Anyways...Here's some random happenings/ramblings from the past week or so... Kevin is anti anything Christmas before Thanksgiving...I'm the complete opposite. We've compromised. I can listen to Christmas music but cant hang any decorations (my pinecone and snowflake garlands don't count) until the Monday before Thanksgiving. I can live with those stipulations.  We made a goal with our friend G to not eat out at all this week (we may or may not have an addiction to midnight runs to McDonalds). We've survived so far.  Last night we finally watched the movie, "The Fault in Our Stars". Holy hannah. Ugly face cry the whole time people. It was so sad but so worth it, minus the random f-bomb.  I attempted to make homemade french fries for dinner this week...oh deary...Lets just say I wont be using that particular recipe again...or attempting to make fries again a...

Sum of September

My goodness its already October! September was a fabulous, crazy, busy, wonderful month. First up a visit to Idaho... A ll my siblings surprised my parents the second weekend of Sept as an early birthday present for my mom's 60th birthday! We were missing Kevin and Arianna's husband and kids but the rest of us were able to go. My parents were so shocked and my mom cried and cried she was so happy to see us all. It was the best present we've ever given her. :)  It was a laid back weekend just spending time together. We went to a Gentri concert Saturday night,  church Sunday, my mom loves having people to sit with so we made sure to visit on a weekend so we could all sit with her, Danny and Melissa's family left Sunday after dinner, Monday we had a little day of shopping and relaxing at home, and then Tuesday Shawnii, Arianna and I all headed home.  GETTING TO DRIVE LARRY HOME FROM CHURCH!!!  The day after I got back from Idaho I st...
